Mayor Tommy Allegood, on behalf of the Board of Aldermen, recognized Acworth Librarian Nicole Knotts as the recipient of the 2016 Black History Month Proclamation. Ms. Knotts was accompanied by her three sons and her supervisor from the Cobb County Library System for the presentation. Mayor Allegood advised of the opportunity to recognize an African-Amercian who has made a difference in the community and has improved quality of life. Mayor Allegood advised that Ms. Knotts has been the Acworth Librarian for two years and further advised on her background to include, a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Howard University, a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Valdosta State University and an employee with Cobb County Libraries for eleven years. Mayor Allegood presented Ms. Knotts with the proclamation and further acknowledged Acworth resident and historian Nancy Maxwell as a frequent visitor at the local library.
