Brandon D. Douglas began his role in the public sector by serving as the Community Development Planner for the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission in 2005 serving 17 counties and 63 cities. Mr. Douglas moved to Acworth in 2007 whereupon he served in the capacity as Assistant City Manager for the next 12 years. From 2007 to 2019, Mr. Douglas was blessed to be part of the Acworth Team along with serving the community through various roles such as a Board member for the Acworth Business Association along with the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Leadership Cobb Class of 2009.
Mr. Douglas was appointed the City Manager for the City of Jasper in February 2019 and during the next 2 ½ years served the community with the same dedication and commitment that he had learned during his tenure with Acworth.
In October 2021, Mr. Douglas was blessed to rejoin the Acworth Team as the Deputy City Manager and although the time away from Acworth was but for a season, Mr. Douglas aspires to utilize the experiences gained during that time to add value to the exemplary team already in place and to contribute positively by way of his previous decade plus tenure of serving the Acworth Community.
Throughout his professional career, Mr. Douglas has been a member of professional associations such as the Georgia City/County Management Association, Georgia Economic Developers Association, International Council of Shopping Centers as well as the International City/County Management Association where he holds the distinction of a Credentialed Manager. Additionally, Mr. Douglas earned his Master of Public Administration (2004) and Bachelor of Science in Political Science (2002) from Georgia College & State University.
Above all else, Mr. Douglas is blessed that his greatest achievement is his identity in Christ and his identity as a husband and dad to a beautiful wife and daughter with whom he is fortunate to share time with through reading, hiking, and living life!
