The Acworth Police Explorers gave a presentation to the Acworth City Council on Thursday briefly explaining their program. Chief Wayne Dennard introduced Dr. John Reagan who helped get the program started twelve years ago. Chief Dennard also introduced Officer Nicholas Parker and Matt Sender of the Acworth Police Department who volunteer with the Acworth Explorers Post 4400. Explorers in attendance: Captain Kaylan Morrell, Gracie Mallett, Cooper White, Kadi Doumbia, Shayanne Kelly and Brice Willis. Captain Kayla Morrell advised the Acworth Explorers is a youth program that introduces its members to the law enforcement field and is ran and taught by active law enforcement officers. Gracie Mallett explained about weekly training with scenarios that mimic real life instances and how Explorers gain a sense of self confidence and patience. Captain Morrell discussed training for competitions, volunteering for fundraisers, and how their Post helps to make Acworth a great community.
