At the November 7th Council Meeting - Kathy Vaughan the GIS Administrator for the City of Acworth accepted a proclamation in recognition of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day, November 13, 2019. GIS was first celebrated in 1999 in efforts to recognize and educate others about the technology that has become so integrated into our daily lives. GIS technology is used in creating various maps, analyzing data, addressing and assisting local emergency services among many other things.
