Proclamation in Recognition of DIPG Awareness Day on May 17th

Mayor Tommy presented a proclamation to Regina Russell and family in recognition of DIPG Awareness Day on May 17th. DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas) are highly aggressive and difficult to treat tumors which are found in the part of the brain called the pons which controls many of the body’s most vital functions, such as breathing, blood pressure & heart rate. With a survival rate of less than 2%, an estimated 300 boys and girls between 2 to 11 years old are diagnosed each year in the US alone. Please help us to raise awareness of DIPG in hope that research will lead to a cure.
