2016 SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax)
On November 4, 2014 the citizens of Cobb County approved a 6-year Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) for projects throughout Cobb County. The SPLOST began on January 1, 2016 and will run until December 31, 2021. As part of the SPLOST the City of Acworth is projected to receive approximately $30,644,429 over the 6 years of the SPLOST, funds are received monthly based on sales tax revenue.
Cobb SPLOST Renewal
On November 3, 2020 the citizens of Cobb County voted to renew Cobb County’s SPLOST program for another six years. The SPLOST will begin on January 1, 2022 and will run until December 31, 2027. As part of the SPLOST the City of Acworth is projected to receive approximately $24,060,517 over the 6 years of the SPLOST, funds are received monthly based on sales tax revenue.
Cobb County is contributing $3,000,000 to the city for joint projects in the City. Cobb County is also funding projects in and just outside the Acworth city limits which will benefit the citizens of the City.
